Moldova Elaborates Consumer Protection Strategy for 2013-2020
OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2012. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy this was spoken about at a sitting of the Coordinative Council on Consumer Protection. According to Deputy Economy Minister Octavian Calmic, the new strategy is aimed at consolidating possibilities in this area, which is going to be achieved by taking a whole set of measures, such as promoting and ensuring safety of goods and services, developing the distribution infrastructure of substantial goods and cervices, simplifying the process of consumer rights protection and reparation, promoting sustainable consumption, enhancing the reporting system with IT technologies, etc.
The special attention will be given to the development and implementation of education l programs and to the raise of confidence to the system of consumer protection. Participants of the sitting review a situation in the field of consumer right protection and measures taken within the Strategy for 2008-2012. Despite adopting plenty of laws and regulatory documents, the 4-year strategy have been implemented 80% only.
The pressing problems to be solved as soon as possible include developing and enhancing legal and regulatory frameworks for ensuring quality and safety of goods and services as well as drawing up and passing a set of laws on legal and extrajudicial conflicts settling and damage repairing.
