Tata Power Quality Control Teams Win Several State-Level Accolades
OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2012. Quality has been one of the key thrust areas for Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company. In its constant endeavour to improve quality and efficiency, Tata Power has ensured that innovation takes precedent in driving performance at its plants and project locations.
Tata Power’s efforts have been recognised at the recently concluded Chapter Convention Quality Circle (CCQC) 2012, organised by Quality Circle Forum of India, at IES College, Mumbai.
Applauding the efforts of the quality teams, S Padmanabhan, executive director, operations, Tata Power, said, “We appreciate the efforts of the quality teams across locations for their contribution towards an improved quality movement at Tata Power. We will continue to create an environment of active involvement and participation of our employees towards quality improvement and thereby establish industry benchmarks.”
There were a total of 239 participants, including delegates, at CCQC 2012. The following 31 awards were won by teams from Tata Power:
Fourteen gold awards for the following projects implemented by various departments at Trombay, transmission and distribution (T&D) division and hydro plants:
Delay in issue of materials from stores.
Coal spillage defects in tripper conveyor 20B.
Frequent repairs of compressor.
Frequent failure of clinker grinder.
Utilisation of bottom ash.
Water harvesting.
High water consumption in R/S.
Reduction in outage duration.
110KV ICT 6 B phase bushing oil pressure low.
Replacement of 110KV LTBD circuit breakers drives mechanism box.
Distribution transformer tripping during monsoon.
Failure of BPSU DDS system pumps.
Less reliability of set 1 OPU.
Cycle time reduction in spherical valve overhaul.
Sixteen awards in the silver category won by the various departments at Trombay, T&D division and hydro plants for the following projects:
Materials getting deteriorated.
Reducing power consumption.
Increase in TAN value of CF oil.
Inadequate pressure in fire hydrant line.
Failure of trip coil mechanism.
Problem in auto-operation of sump pump.
Utilisation of bottom ash.
Reduction of temperature in aeration basin.
Delay in handing over of 22KV feeder.
Nuisance operation of power transformer.
No 110KV GOD status on SCADA.
Transformer 8 reaches high winding temperature alarm at 85 percent of load.
Frequent tripping of BPSU LGB pump.
Frequent failure of GODs.
Increasing TRPH availability.
Aux consumption reduction.
