Ukraine to Make Agricultural Cooperation More Profitable
OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2012. At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers it was approved the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Agricultural Cooperation". Officials have proposed to classify agricultural service cooperatives as subjects which carry out non-profit management. Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that it will release agricultural service cooperatives from unreasonable tax burden and create the conditions for the reduction of expenditure and income of their members.
Today, members of agricultural service cooperatives - individuals - after the payment of all taxes receive significantly less than members of the same cooperatives - entities.
To attract farmers to the formation of agricultural service cooperatives, the government should provide them with favorable conditions. Therefore, the Government has proposed a number of amendments to the law "On Agricultural Cooperation". In addition, the document provides for amendments to the Civil Code, which is planned to include the agricultural service cooperatives to entities engaged in non-profit business entities and, accordingly, to an entrepreneurial society" Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
The Minister explained that the main purpose of creating these cooperatives is to provide efficient services to its members, but not to receive profit.
"We have taken into account the draft global developments. Therefore, its adoption will improve fiscal and economic conditions of the agricultural cooperatives"- Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted.
