OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2012. Chongqing Customs said that from January to August this year, import and export value of Chongqing foreign trade reached USD 35,270 million, increasing 1.3 times year-on-year. The gross value includes export value of USD 25,940 million which has increased 1.7 times and import value of USD 9330 million which has increased 67.6%. The total import and export value ranks No.11 in China.

 "Since the beginning of this year, Chongqing foreign trade has stayed in good situation as import and export both flourish. Only in August, import and export value of Chongqing reached USD 5040 million, increasing 57.2% year-on-year." Relevant chief of Chongqing Customs said that in the first 8 months of this year, import and export of processing trade, bonded logistics and enterprises invested by foreigners all increased several times year-on-year and forcefully increased total import and export value of Chongqing foreign trade.

According to statistics, from January to August this year, import and export value, export value and import value of Chongqing processing trade are respectively USD 10,160 million, USD 8990 million and USD 1170 million, respectively increasing 2.5 times, 2.6 times and 1.9 times year-on-year. Import and export value of processing trade accounts for 28.8%. Import and export value of processing trade of two special customs supervision areas (including Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Area and Lianglu Cuntan Boned Port) is USD 9270 million in total, accounting for 91.2% of total year-on-year Chongqing processing trade value.

In addition, from January to August, mechanical and electrical products are still the backbone of import and export of Chongqing foreign trade. The accumulated import is USD 7290 million, increasing 84.4%; the export is USD 16,480 million, increasing 1.6 times and accounting for 63.5% of the export value of Chongqing. Export of notebook has broken through 20 million sets and reached 22,001,000 sets which are worth USD 7550 million, respectively increasing 2.8 times and 3 times year-on-year.
