OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2012. ArcelorMittal has ranked first in the steel sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). The world’s largest steel and mining company appears in the leading index for the third consecutive year, and is a now a member of both DJSI World and DSJI Europe, reported the press-centre of ArcelorMittal.

The DJSI, launched in 1999, tracks the stock performance of the world's leading companies using economic, environmental and social criteria.

ArcelorMittal’s overall score pushed the company to the top of the index’s steel sector which also includes South Korea’s Hyundai Steel and POSCO, Finland’s Rautaruukki and Outokumpu and China Steel Corp.

Ongoing improvements in corporate responsibility reporting, advancement in human rights, customer engagement and the company’s responsible sourcing programme have all contributed to the significant improvement in ArcelorMittal’s 2012 ranking.
