OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2012. Sampo Pank and the President of the Republic Cultural Foundation signed the contract according to which Sampo Pank (Danske Bank A/S Estonia branch) will continue financing the Educational Award also in the next three years. The size of the award fund each year is EUR 11,200, which is divided into three separate awards that amount to EUR 4,800, EUR 3,500 and EUR 2,900, reported the press-centre of Sampo Pank. 

“There are many teachers in Estonia who are innovative, modern, and put their heart and soul into their work,” said President Toomas Hendrik Ilves. “They need recognition and attention. I am pleased that Sampo Pank helps us value Estonian teachers and education.”

Aivar Rehe, CEO at Sampo Pank, said that the entire society needs about the development of education, because the world is constantly changing and those whose contribution to the promotion of education exceeds expectations deserve some special recognition.

“We are pleased to continue financing the Educational Award, because we’re convinced that every euro invested into education brings great returns, said Rehe. “We want to thank those who further education with these awards. We also contribute actively into the development of financial education and have created several educational environments for young people.”

The Educational Award of the President of the Republic may be granted to people engaged in the field of education at any level of study, who have achieved outstanding results as teachers, faculty members, principals or employees of educational institutions, compilers of textbooks and methodological materials, or by initiating and implementing practical innovations in the field of education, or by developing educational policy as an education official.

Nominations can be submitted by the people who meet the above eligibility criteria themselves or by their employers, training and educational institutions, and all associations operating in the field of education. Members of the supervisory board of the Cultural Foundation may also nominate suitable candidates.
