Lean production is an interpretation of the Japanese work philosophy Kaizen (meaning “continuous improvement” from Japanese language) and ideas of Toyota production system by American researchers of “Toyota” phenomenon. Lean production (or lean manufacturing) is a management concept based on steady effort to eliminate all types of losses. Lean management has penetrated into all sectors of the economy and has been spreading around the world for more than 20 years. Nowadays lean management is widely recognized not only as set of tools or package of principles, but also as a management system for problem solving.

In Kyrgyzstan the Lean production principles are being implemented since 2009 with the support of GIZ Support for Regional Economic Cooperation in Central Asia Program. More than 10 companies in different sectors, including sufficiently successful companies in the market, such as “begemot”, “Barkad”, “Eline-Moda” were trained and currently use tools of this management system. Due to the optimization of the production processes some companies increased their productivity and efficiency and, as a consequence, company employees were able to receive better salary.

Location of Lean Forum: Hyatt Regency Bishkek hotel.
