Remittances form Russia to Moldova up 7.1%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2012. According to the Central Bank of Russia, they made up USD 210 mln. in Q1 2012 and USD 274 mln. in Q2, 2012 against USD 181 mln. and USD 271 mln. respectively registered in the like periods of 2011.
A sum of a remittance from Russia to Moldova averaged USD 423 in Q1, 2012 and USD 450 in Q2, 2012. In the same periods of 2011 it was USD 447 and USD 509 respectively. As it was said earlier, according to the Central Bank of Russia, in 2011 remittances from aboard in favour in individuals made via banks amounted to USD 1 bln. 76 mln., 27.3% or на USD 231 mln. up within the year.
The average sum of a remittance from RF to Moldova made up USD 525 in 2011 against USD 516 registered the year before. Moldova has ranked the 7th among CIS states by amounts of remittances from Russia through money transfer systems, following Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, in the first half-year of 2012 remittances from aboard in favour in individuals made via commercial banks amounted to USD 650.69 mln., USD 13.54 mln. up within the year. (2,1%). Following Q2, 2012, in the structure of remittances in forex about 39.3% fell to USD, 37.9% to EUR and 22.8% to RUB. The biggest receipts in Moldova come from Russia and Italy.
According to the World Bank, remittances from Moldova’s labor migrants amount to 20% to 30% of GDP of Moldova. The all-time peak of the volume of money transfers to Moldova made in favor of individuals via commercial banks was recorded in 2008 when the sum amounted to USD 1 bln. 660.09 mln. within the year.
