OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2012. An annual international event of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) – “Competition Day in Russia” started in Kazan, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The event opened with a session of the international Working Group for developing oil and oil products markets and methods of their functioning (co-chairs – Russia and Austria). Speakers included Deputy Head of FAS Anatoly Golomolzin, representatives of Austria, Latvia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other foreign participants. The Roundtable discussions focused on the existing approaches to monitoring and analyzing wholesale and retail markets of oil and oil products.

Another Round Table on 11th September was devoted to state preferences (state aid): Russia – EC Round Table “Compliance with Competition Conditions Granting State Aid in Russia and the EC”. The Round Table participants discussed performance and development of the system for control over compliance with competition conditions granting state preferences (state aid) in Russia and the EC; competitive neutrality granting state aid to state-run companies, and the role of state aid for eliminating regional disproportions.

The Competition Day is an extended Collegium of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, involving the heads and representatives of Russian and foreign competition authorities, international organizations and integration associations, CIS member-states, as well as representatives of the law enforcement and judicial bodies, business, academic and community circles. The Competition Day comprises workshops, Round Tables, meetings on the work of the antimonopoly bodies: anti-cartel efforts; eliminating administrative barriers for entrepreneurship; introducing fast-track administrative dispute procedures; easy entry of foreign companies in Russian business; specifics of judicial reviews of cases on antimonopoly violations, etc.
