Ukraine to Remove Barriers in Trade with Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2012. Ukraine is interested so that trade and economic relations with Russia are developing dynamically and smoothly. This was started by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia), Rustam Minnikhanov.
"Last year we have record trade turnover with Russia - USD 62 billion, an increase compared to 2010 by 40%. Such a trend is difficult to maintain, but we would like our relations to develop on the rise, that there are no barriers - this is our principled position "- Mykola Azarov said.
However the Prime Minister noted that the introduction of a FTA in the CIS will fundamentally improve the implementation of various cooperation projects in Ukraine and Russia. According to the Prime Minister, cooperation in the field of aeronautics is extremely promising, in particular joint serial production of an AN-70 at the Kazan Production Association named after Gorbunov.
The parties also discussed the introduction of the utilization duty for cars, which are produced in Ukraine on the Russia side. "With regard to the utilization duty for cars we suggested - that we do not have to enter the appropriate compensation mechanisms - to sign an agreement to abolish the fee or a mutual non-use" - Mykola Azarov said.
