Germany to Extend Moldova EUR13,6 mn for Regional Development
OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2012. According to the Ministry o Regional Development and Construction, 3.6 mln. euros will be allotted to projects to be capitalized till the end of 2012.
Another 10 mln. euros are to be assigned for the National Fund of Regional Development to modernize local public services in 2013-2014. Representatives of the government of Germany noted that this backing has become possible thanks to the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Niebel.
The parties discussed a procedure of the distribution of 13.6 mln. euros and arranged to define terms Moldova has to meet to receive the funds at intergovernmental talks to be held in November, 2012 Chisinau. Besides, the German party requested information on the internal audit of projects, the legislative bases and principles of work of the Ministry.
Representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development presented the complete information on the National Strategy for Regional Development and said that a new strategy, for 2013-2020, is being developed in which another methodology of choosing projects for backing to be provided. The Moldovan party stressed that to identify priority areas for external backing and improving monitoring of the projects, a special coordinative council had been created.
The council embraces representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations and development partners.
