Ukraine, China Step up Pace of Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2012. Ukraine and China are interested in deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields. Mutual interest in this was expressed during a meeting by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and Mrs. Chzhyli Chen, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of China national assembly representatives of the People's Republic.
During the meeting the parties supported to deepen bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, energy, culture, science, tourism, infrastructure construction, etc.
In particular, Mykola Azarov stressed on upward trend of commodity turnover between Ukraine and China. "I'm pleased to note growing commodity turnover between our countries. Last year, it reached almost USD10 billion and has a tendency to increase," said the Prime Minister.
In this regard Chzhyli Chen emphasized the need to develop a new model of cooperation, "so as soon as possible to fulfill the tasks of leaders to increase trade up to USD 20 billion."
Moreover, in his remarks, Mykola Azarov suggested the side of China to make more active exchanges of students. Also, due to increases in interest to study Chinese language in Ukraine, Mykola Azarov suggested to jointly develop a textbook for learning Chinese and establish specialized school in Ukraine to the teaching of all disciplines in Chinese.
