OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2012. The Baku Metro is likely to become one of the most capital-intensive types of transport.

Baku Metro’s deputy chief Arif Rasulov has said today at Baku international congress & exhibition "Tunneling & underground infrastructure of megacities", the prepared 20-year Metro Development Concept requires large capital investments.

"At primary stage it will be realized at the expense of own resources of Azerbaijan and then foreign investments may be needed. Today, construction of 1 km of the subway costs 100-110 million. We will build more than 80 km of subway lines, and costs are estimated at 6-7 billion manats," Rasulov said.
