Ryanair Supports Marie Keating Foundation
OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2012. Ryanair, Europe’s only ultra-low cost airline, today (6 Sept) announced a significant donation to the Marie Keating Foundation, one of many charities to receive ongoing contributions from the sale of Ryanair’s ‘Fly To Win’ onboard scratchcards.
Several members of Ryanair’s cabin crew and head office team were on hand to present the donation to popstar, Ronan Keating, who founded the charity in 1998 along with his family following the death of his mother, Marie, from breast cancer. The Foundation aims to provide all women and their families with vital information which could help them to prevent cancer or detect it at its earliest stages.
Ryanair’s ‘Fly To Win’ scratchcards are sold onboard every one of Ryanair’s 1,500 daily flights, where cash, vouchers and cars can all be won, as well as the chance to scoop a cool €1 million, for a stake of just €2.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“Ryanair is delighted to support the Marie Keating Foundation, which has firmly established itself as the leading voice on cancer awareness and information for both men and women. The Foundation is one of many charities to receive ongoing donations from our ‘Fly To Win’ scratchcards, so while passengers have the chance to win some amazing prizes by playing, they also help out many great causes.”
Marie Keating Foundation CEO, Lillian McGovern said:
“The Foundation does not receive any Government funding and all of its services are provided free of charge. Without the support of wonderful fundraisers, volunteers and supporters – such as Ryanair – across Ireland, it simply could not continue to provide vital services and make one family’s promise of making cancer less frightening by enlightening a reality.”
Ryanair Scratchcards' Paddy Lynch said:
“Ryanair's scratchcards are very popular with passengers who, for just € 2 are in with a chance to win prizes ranging from Ryanair flight vouchers to Fiat 500's and the chance to scoop a cool million. A wide range of charities benefit from ongoing donations, including the Marie Keating Foundation, who we are delighted to support.”
