ROSATOM Is Ready to Participate in Construction of Polish NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2012. Given an open tender is called to build NPP in Poland, ROSATOM is ready to participate. Sergey Boyarkin, Program Director at ROSATOM, stated this at the XXII Economic Forum in Krynica, Poland.
In the course of the discussion “Nuclear Energy in Central-Eastern Europe - Competition or Cooperation?” he noted that only an electricity market with a large number of electricity grids would be capable of ensuring real competition in the Eastern Europe’s power market. “Stability and predictability of energy supplies is the prerequisite of Eastern Europe countries’ economy development, and ROSATOM will put all effort to provide these markets with electricity,” he said.
In his paper, Jukka Laaksonen, Vice President of Rusatom Overseas, noted that in the nuclear power development context one had to speak about the cooperation in safety of nuclear power plants irrespectively of who had built them. Europe is very small, and if we ignore the safety issues and compete in this sphere, we may undermine the trust in the entire nuclear power, he said.
The round table session was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy of Latvia Gatis Abele, Deputy Director of IBRAE RAS Rafael Arutyunyan, Director of Energy Department of the Ministry of Energy of Poland Tomas Dobrovsky, Lithuania’s Ambassador-at-Large Vytautas Nauduzas and other representatives of the expert community from Poland, Lithuania, Russia and Germany.
