Senior Official of Anhui Province Urges Enhanced Law Enforcement
OREANDA-NEWS. September 06, 2012. During his inspection tour to east China's Anhui Province, senior Chinese leader Zhou Yongkang urged enhanced law enforcement and social management capabilities in order to safeguard economic prosperity and a harmonious society.
Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, inspected procuratorial, judicial and law enforcement departments in the provincial capital of Hefei during the two-day trip that ended Tuesday.
After a tour of the registration hall, major courtroom and juvenile court at the Intermediate People's Court of Hefei, Zhou inspected the rooms for simultaneous sound recording and videotaping and watched procedures for overseeing suspects being interrogated at the People's Procuratorate of Hefei.
When meeting with representatives of the officials from these departments, Zhou said he expects officials in the field to honestly carry out their responsibilities as stated by the Constitution and other laws, making sure every case can stand the tests of time and law.
The senior official also paid a special visit to a detachment of a local special police force during his trip. He watched exercises for driving special police vehicles and cracking abduction cases.
While hailing the detachment's achievements, Zhou said the special force should strengthen their capabilities by carrying out more educational drills and combat exercises with live ammunition since they were set up to deal with important tasks.
He encouraged the force to contribute more to safeguarding people's interests, national security and social stability.
