Unemployment Rate Made Up 4,5% in Moldova in 2Q
OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2012. According to the methodology used by International Labour Bureau, a number of the jobless equalled to 57.6 thou people, 25 thou. less that in Q2, 2011, the National Bureau of Statistics informs. The unemployment rate was 5.4% among men, which made up 60.9% of all the jobless, and 3.6% among women. In urban areas an amount of the jobless accounted for 6.8% , which was 69.9% of their total amount , whereas in rural areas it made up 2.6%.
The rate of unemployment was 11.2% among young people at the age of 15 to 24 and 7.5% among people at the age between 15 and 29. In Q2, 2012 economically active population of Moldova made up 1 mln. 266.9 thou thou. people, 4.7% down as compared with the same period of the previous year. The number of employees was 1 mln. 209.3 thou. people, 0.3% down as compared with Q1, 2012. Most workers were employed in agriculture.
Their number amounted to 278.5 thou., 31.3% of all employees and 2.4% down as compared with the same period of the past year. In other sectors it was employed 830,8 thou. people, 3.2% down as compared with Q2, 2011. It was employed 12.5% in the industrial sector and 5.7% in the construction one. Over 67.3% of the employees worked for private companies, 26.1% for public companies and 6.6% for companies of mixed proprietorship.
In the informal sector of the economy it was employed 13.6% of the employed population and 31.7% of the population had informal working places. Part time work was typical for 80.8 thou. people, which was 6.7% of a total number of employees of Moldova.
