OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2012. To join European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, ENTSO-E, Moldova needs from 85,5 mln. to 219 mln. Euros. This is stipulated by three scenarios of the joining, described in the draft Energy Strategy of Moldova -2030. According to the first one, the cheapest, Moldova will joint ENTSO-E together with Ukraine.

Its advantage consists of keeping the stable system, but it will take a lot of time to be implemented. The scenario of Moldova’s joining ENTSO –E with the island of Burstyn only will come to about 143 mln. euros. In this case, providing the stability will require special measures and, unlike the first scenario, opportunities for transactions will be much less. Asynchronous integration is the most time-saving but the most expensive. Besides, it creates less favourable conditions for competition.

All the three scenarios will provide good conditions for power generation, give Moldova an opportunity to join the Romanian market and stipulate low pressure for a growth of domestic generation of power. Moldova is planning to joint ENTSO-E by 2020 and has already received a grant to implement feasibility report on integration in the framework of the joint project of Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. ENTSO-E was created in 2009 and has embraced 42 system operators from 34 states.
