Baosteel to Resolve Overhead Rail Detection Challenge
OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2012. Previously, detection on overhead rail requires long time hazardous operation by climbing up. Recently, a new R&D achievement by Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group Industrial Service Company has been initiated, saying goodbye to such hazardous operations. Demonstration was made on such automatic detection device of crane rail, and it is not only highly efficient and time saving, but also safer to the operators, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.
Industrial and mining enterprises shall conduct overhead crane rail detection at intervals, which requires the operator to climb over 20 meters to work. Take a routine test on 300m rail as an example, 6 operators and 4 hours are needed, with different detection instruction and methods to complete such items as straightness, elevation and spacing, etc. During such process, there are plenty of hidden safety peril and repetitive operation to lead to low efficiency and high cost.
Baosteel Industrial Service Company Detection Business Unit R & D team lead by Yang Enbo, has dedicately developed automatic detection device with proprietary IPR. During operation, this device will conduct the automatic measurement along the overhead rails, and feedback the measuring data to the control system behind on a real time basis. Data collection, data treatment and relevant detection report, etc. could be formed quickly. Compared to the manual detection on 300m overhead rails, such automatic detection device only requires 3 operators in 2 hours.
At present, as the first innovation achievement in the field, such automatic detection device has been applied in several working sites of Baosteel with good effect and 5 national patents.
