OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2012.   Nordecon AS has completed design and construction work on the water and sewerage systems in the Taara residential district, Rapina Highway district and Kose Road district of Voru. The total cost of the project before VAT was almost 1.3 million euros.

“Now that the new pipelines are ready, more people in Voru will have access to high-quality drinking water that meets all standards, and the environmentally friendly collection and processing of their waste water is guaranteed,” said Erkki Suurorg, a member of the management board of Nordecon AS. “There will be fewer leaks in future, and less loss of water, which is not only good news for consumers, but also the local water company. And as a builder I’m very happy that the work was completed on time, despite the extremely high groundwater level in the area and the difficult geological conditions we had to work around.”

Sairos Horak, a member of the management board of AS Voru Vesi, says that Nordecon AS enjoys a reputation as a very reliable contractor and a company with an excellent construction culture for its work on water and sewerage pipelines in south-eastern Estonia. “We’re very happy that design and construction went so smoothly, without any major problems, and that construction has been completed on time,” he said. “There were no real differences of opinion between us and the contractor and the supervisors. It’s great to be able to offer residents and companies in new parts of Voru the chance to connect up to our water and sewerage services.”

A total of ca 4.5 km of new water pipes, 4 km of sewerage pipes and 0.7 km of high-pressure pipes were designed and constructed as part of the waterworks project for the City of Voru, which was supported via the Cohesion Fund of the European Union. Two water pumping stations were also erected, as well as almost 100 new connection points, while ca 20 existing points were reconstructed. The client was AS Voru Vesi, with engineering services provided by AS Infragate Eesti.
