The aggregated throughput of sea – born cargo in Klaipeda Port and Butinges terminal in January – July of 2012 totalled 24,24 million tn, the overall year – on - year change was 8,5 percent down. 19,93 million tn were handled in Klaipeda Seaport throughout the analysed period, the year-on-year change was -7,1 pct. or -1,53 million tn, meanwhile Butinges terminal handled 4,31 million tn, the year-on-year change was -14,2 pct. or -0,71 million tn., reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.
 
The highest increase in cargo turnover throughout January – July of 2012 comparing with the corresponding period of 2011 was reached due to increased handling volumes of and raw and processed minerals and construction materials (+238,2 thou. tn yoy) and iron ore (+210,9 thou. tn yoy)
 
The most considerable drop down in cargo turnover throughout January – July of 2012 comparing with the corresponding period of 2011 occurred due to decreased handling volumes of bulk natural and chemicalfertilizers (-855,3 thou. tn yoy), oil products (-734,4 thou. tn yoy) and crude oil (-711,1 thou. tn yoy).
 
In terms of cargo groups the handling volumes of liquid cargodecreased by 12,8 pct. yoy to 10 098,2 thou. tn (41,7 pct. of overall Port handling turnover). Dry and bulk cargo handling volumes decreased by 6,5 pct. yoy, the handling rates of this cargo category were 7 777,7 thou. tn (32,1 pct. of overall Port handling turnover). General cargo handlingvolumes decreased by 3,4pct. yoy, the overall turnover in this cargo group was 6 365,7thou. tn (26,2pct. of overall Port handling turnover).
 
Altogether3 932vessels were reported to call KlaipedaPort and Butinges terminal within the period ofJanuary – July of 2012. 43 vessels (-15,7 pct. or less by 8 vessels yoy) moored at Butinges terminal. 2 788 international vessels (-9 vessels or -0,3 pct. yoy) and 1 101 domestic ships ( -42 vessels or -3,7 pct yoy) were reported to call KlaipedaPort. Throughout the foregoing period of the current year the number of vessels calling KlaipedaPort was 3 889, i.e. less by 59 vessels than throughout the corresponding period of 2011. The number of passengerscalling the Portthroughout the analysed periodwas 194 343, i.e. more by 4,0pct. or by 7 489 passengers comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.

The number of cruise passengers within the period of January – July of 2012 was 12 396, i.e. less by -5,4 pct. or by -709 passengers comparing with the corresponding period of the previous year.
