OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2012. Our economy since the beginning of the year compared with the same period last year reduce gas consumption by almost 3 billion cubic meters. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this at a meeting of the Cabinet.

"This is the bottom line of energy saving policy - or rather, energy efficiency", - Mykola Azarov said.

Thus the PM noted that since the beginning of the year Ukraine has imported nearly 12 billion cubic meters of gas less. This is a practical result of the policy of energy independence.

Simultaneously, it has been increased production of domestic coal and gas. Ahead of the autumn-winter period six powerful heating units were transferred from gas to coal. Also today, it is developed a feasibility study on the transfer to hydrocarbon fuel, five more thermal power plants.

"Advanced technologies for coal use in thermal power and industry open up completely new prospects for the industry", - PM stressed.
