Economy of Moldova May Face Recession this Year
OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2012. This was stated by the President of NBM in a Moldovan TV channel. According to him, the economic growth in Moldova may turn out much slower than that projected by the government for 2012; it can even be the zero one.
The NBM President said that in the mid of September GDP indicators for Q2 and the first half-year would be known and agricultural indicators would be considered to make a new projection on GDP for 2012. It should be reminded that the government of Moldova reduced the GDP growth projection from 4% to 3% taking into account slowdown in the national economy.
The GDP growth projection for 2012 was reduced from 3.5% to 3% by IMF and from 4% to 2.5% by EBRD. GDP grew 6.4% in 2011 in Moldova and 1% in Q1, 2012.
