OREANDA-NEWS.  In September, 2012 ANRCETI to approve special terms for issuing 4G mobile communication licenses which can be obtained by operators by the end of 2012. This was stated by Director General of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Information technologies Sergiu Sitnic at a meeting held by Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat with mobile communication providers of Moldova.

According to the resolution adopted by the government, the license on use of radio frequencies in the band of 2500-2690 MHz can be bought for 10 mln euros. Sergiu Sitnic noted than ANRCETI had drawn up the draft resolution of the Administrative Board on approval of special terms of issuing licenses on use of radio channels and frequencies in the band of 2500-2690 MHz and presented it for public consultations.

The Agency received remarks and proposals form mobile communication providers and took into account majority of them. Orange Moldova General Director Ludmila Climoc noted that the main criticism of the providers concerned minimal limits of the coverage area set by the Agency.

She stressed that such limits are not established in other states, as international practices show. She supported an idea of leaving at the discretion of providers a matter of investments they will be able to make in the competitive market of telecommunication. Financial Director of Modcell Carolina Bugaian shared this opinion. According to her, 4G is a state-of the art technology which is not used in full still. Users have not had 4G devices and that is why a share of the 4G coverage can not be established. Deupty General Director of Moldtelecom Grigorie Varanita said Unite had tested 4G and got rather good results, but this is up to the Administrative Board of the company to make a decision to buy the 4G license or not.

As Vladimir Filat said Moldova may become one of the firs states in the world to adopt 4G technologies and the government would support companies putting them in practice. Cabinet Ministers are open for partnership and stand for providing people of Moldova with qualitative mobile communication at accessible prices, the Premier said.
