OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2012. On “Poliom” Ltd. was conducted an audit evaluating, first of all, safety of work on the enterprise. The summary document was given to specialists for examination, reported the press-centre of Titan. 

Prestarting check of safety conducted on the unit Spheripol (one of the most advanced world technologies for polypropylene production, the license for the use of which was purchased by “Poliom” from company “Basell”), was held at the end of July. The check was performed by the specialists of LyondellBasell: A. Gala, A. Pedroni, G. Maccabiani, P. Scopa and L. Shunaker with assistance from the specialists of “Poliom” Ltd. and Tecnimont. During the check the group of auditors was governed by Criteria of Design Safety of Basell company for Spheripol units in order to evaluate construction and check quality.

Closing statement contains 88 remarks, and, according to estimations from specialists, this is a good result. All remarks are sorted according to three degrees of urgency – А (necessary to fulfill before the enterprise startup), B (can be fulfilled after the startup in half a year) and С (recommended for fulfillment). In remarks of category А, in particular, one notices necessity of protection from fall on emergency ladders, fence on the sites, transfer of hydrocarbon detectors from upper levels to the lower level, change of direction of particular ladders etc. Among the activities, which can be fulfilled after the startup, – one should make even the floor around separate units of equipment, install hydrocarbon detector, lead discharge lines into drainage funnel etc. Into the last category of remarks the specialists included such items as “elongate the ladder till the height of handrails”, “add a step on extruder platform”, “install netting for protection from birds on exhaust pipes” etc.

 “It was very pleasant to receive generally positive evaluation of our site, – comments Oleg Moloshtanov, Director General of “Poliom” Ltd. – Auditors noticed, that received result of the check is quite positive for an enterprise of such level. Therewith, many of remarks received by us had already been eliminated by the moment of receipt of official results of the check, and we are going to eliminate the rest as soon as possible”.

“Content of remarks received from the experts confirmed again high professional level of Basell as the supplier of production technology, – shares his opinion the head of polymerization workshop Dmitry Seleznev. – When you are working with such company, you can once again reassure yourself concerning the project’s safety, which is elaborated in European style, in details. For example, different width of steps on the ladder, which can cause bruises to the workers, corresponds to the same degree of urgency “А” that the absence of smoke detectors in a room has. The report demonstrates high level of Basell specialists, who have huge experience in evaluation of safety of such production facilities”.

The work on elimination of all remarks is already underway.
