OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2012. BPS-Sberbank and Belarusbank announced conclusion of the agreement under which at merchant points (including Internet shops), reported the press-centre of BPS-Sberbank.

The project will allow to expand the network of merchants accepting American Express cards in the Republic of Belarus. Today the acquiring network of Belarusbank and BPS-Sberbank covers almost 20,000 trade organizations where about 30,000 payment terminals are installed.

Oleg Borodko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of BPS-Sberbank, notes: “This agreement is the next step of BPS-Sberbank towards development of cooperation with American Express that started in summer 2010. We are pleased that Belarusbank started to accept American Express cards in its acquiring network, and we believe that our joint effort will provide holders of American Express cards with wider opportunities of their use in the Belarusian trade environment”.

Ilya Shalanki, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Belarusbank, adds: “We are sure that provision of possibility to serve American Express cards in the acquiring network of the bank will improve the level of customer service and contribute to more active development of cashless settlements in general”.

Irina Belova, Director of Business Development of GNS, Director General of American Express Travel Service East, comments: “We are happy about today’s conclusion of the agreement which allows to expand the presence of American Express brand in Belarus”.
