OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2012. Development of the co-operative movement should be an effective mechanism for peasants building and allow solving a number of social and economic problems in the country. In particular, the agricultural cooperatives will create new workplaces, which will greatly reduce the outflow of the working population to cities and provide a decent standard of living. This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

On Mykola Prysyazhnyuk’s belief, the first step in the formation of co-operatives should be family farms. Now, the state actively supports their creation.

"As of today, in Ukraine there is the State Target Economic Program to support the development of agricultural servicing cooperatives for the period up to 2015" – the Minister said.

He noted that co-operatives can provide an output of agricultural products in the organized market and increase the incomes of their members, and that, accordingly, will provide an opportunity to create more workplaces.

"The funds that will be due to the co-operatives will also be focused on the development of social infrastructure in rural areas and this will create the preconditions for peasants work on their land, but not moved to cities" - Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
