Government of Ukraine Revives Mining Towns and Settlements
OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2012. The growing need in coal for Ukraine to switch CHPP's into domestic fuel will lead to the revival of the miner's settlements and towns in the Donbas region. That was informed by the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in an interview to TV channels during his working trip in Luhansk region.
"We are increasingly moving towards its own fuel, which means that we will further have demand for domestic coal. Therefore, the coal industry will be developed, and a prospect for the miners is," Mykola Azarov said.
According to the Prime Minister, after the well-known years when the state had taken a course to mine closure, miner's settlements had turned into regressive areas which lost their jobs, and therefore the payments to local budgets.
As was stated by the Prime Minister, there has been finished once and for all with such irresponsible vector policy. "Year by year we are building up state support for the coal industry, providing funds for the construction of new mines. The Government will further fulfill such a line, paying special attention to the mining towns’ development," Mykola Azarov emphasized.
