OREANDA-NEWS.  August 28, 2012. The German heat generation and biomass company, Danpower GmbH will Friday open its first branch office abroad in Tallinn.

The company finds that there are good investment opportunities in Estonia as well as in the other Baltic countries. Danpower will use the knowhow it has collected in building distance heating networks, boiler houses, biogas stations and heat and power plants fueled with wood chips and waste, the company said.

Danpower has made a 3.5 million euros bid for the acquisition of AS Voru Soojus that was put on sale by the Voru City Government this year. Talks over a notarized sale contract are now going on, the company said.

The company is planning to extend the present communal and industrial heat and electricity generation business by means of an environment-friendly technology, such as a combination plant, as well as by the use of renewable energy sources. Danpower sees  good opportunities fror the development of wind project due to the long coastline and windy climate of Estonia.

Michael G. Feist, board chairman of Danpower, said in a press release that in all conversations where Danpower had visited as a potential investors, the company had been well received. "We were convinced that there is a positive and firm investment climate in Estonia. This way Danpower can extend its position on the  decentralized en effective energy supply market also outside Germany," Feist said.
