Maintenance Carried Out for Puttalam Power Station in Sri Lanka
OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2012. Operation halted accidentally at the Puttalam Coal-fired Power Station in Sri Lanka built by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC). Shortly after the accident had occurred, CMEC Vice President Li Chaoyang rushed to the site with relevant technical experts, reported the press-centre of CMEC.
To restart operation as soon as possible, they worked together with the owner of the station to find out the cause of the accident, troubleshoot all the machinery, and draw up a maintenance plan.
The owner of the power station is the Sri Lanka Electricity Board and Swiss company Poyry is responsible for the engineering. The power station project consists of three parts: one 1*300MW station, one 5,000t coal wharf and supporting facilities, and 117km 220kV transmission lines and relevant substations. The project was completed and delivered to the owner in July 2011, six months ahead of the deadline specified in the contract. Now it is in the Warranty Period during which CMEC is responsible for addressing all the problems.
