NCSP Modernizes Firefighting System at Sheskharis Oil Terminal
OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2012. Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (“NCSP Group” or the “Group”) (LSE: NCSP, MICEX-RTS: NMTP) reports that the Board of Directors approved a contract to perform construction and installation work on the modernization of the fire extinguishing system at the Sheskharis Oil Terminal. The project will replace old block valves and pipelines that are part of the terminal’s fire extinguishing system.
NCSP CEO Rado Antolovic said: “NCSP Group pays great attention to ensuring appropriate and correct use of contemporary fire safety systems, which enables us to significantly improve the operational safety of our facilities.
“The project was designed to enable the continued safe operations of the Sheskharis Oil Terminal. Moreover, it takes into account the climatic conditions of the facility, as well as the construction and operational characteristics of the site.”
The above ground pipeline sections of the fire fighting system will be replaced as part of the project. The below ground pipeline sections, in turn, will be removed at the base of the pier and directed through the existing aerial crossing.
At berth #1 the fire extinguishing system pipelines, water ring and sea water and foam feed lines to the monitors are to be replaced. The new monitors will be more modern versions than the existing ones. The dampers will be installed instead of air valves on the comb of the pier and dock. The sprayer systems on the piers will be updated.
"We have already completed a tender and signed a contract with CJSC KMUS-2. The technical modernization of the system is planned to be completed by the end of January 2013.
“We plan for the cost of day-to-day operations and for our ability to provide full-scale servicing of vessels at the Sheskharis Oil Terminal to remain unchanged during the course of the project,” added Rado Antolovic.
