KAMAZ, NPO Rostar Developed New Product
OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2012. Within the framework of the KAMATEYNER project, specialists of KAMAZ and NPO Rostar developed a new product – KAMAZ-65117 with front and rear air suspension, reported the press-centre of KAMAZ.
KAMAZ`s competitors rarely use front air suspension in the construction of their vehicles, and it is the first time when KAMAZ trucks are equipped with such a system. Unlike spring suspension, front suspension increases ride comfort, makes it possible to adjust the height and tilt of the chassis frame right from the cabin (with full suspension travel), and also reduces vibration in the cabin. These features enable to transport fragile items, thereby greatly expanding the range of transported goods, and reduce loading and unloading problems, enabling to adjust to the height of various ramps of warehouses.
Besides, due to its air suspension, the vehicle can quickly raise and lower the swap body. KAMAZ-65117 with air suspension can carry by one ton of cargo more than spring suspension vehicles equipped with the BDF-PNEUMATIK body lifting system. It is possible due to the reduced total weight of suspension elements and the superstructure. Qualification tests of air suspension for compliancy with safety requirements will be conducted within two months.
The KAMATEYNER project is an innovation which can be the key tool for achieving the global objectives of the Transport Strategy of Russia’2030. Its goal is to increase performance of transport systems by 2-4 times, also due to the increased schedule speed of commercial batches delivered from a consignor to a consumer (by 2-3 times). The project will enable to reduce the vehicle’s energy consumption by 30% and increase profitability of transportation by 2-3 times. The new offer from KAMAZ will probably interest many industries, and first of all, many companies which have several types of special vehicles used not at the same time: summer/winter, liquid/bulk cargo, thermos/manufactured goods. Also these vehicles will be in hgih demand among companies working with large terminals, ports, customs – places where shipping and customs clearance take much time.
