OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2012. Resurfacing work has been completed on two of Moscow’s major transport arteries – Kutuzovsky Prospect and Rublevskoe Highway - using a polymer-bitumen binder (PBB) marketed under the trade mark TNK Alphabit, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

TNK-BP supplied around 3,000 tonnes of improved quality PBB for the upper layer of the road surface on Kutuzovsky Prospect fr om the Triumphal Arch to Starorublevskoe Highway and right along Rublevskoe Highway. During the scheduled maintenance work, which lasted throughout July and August 2012, a specially modified PBB with enhanced resistance to rutting was laid on an area of over 420,000 m2 along almost 15 km of road. In 2013, TNK Alphabit is to be supplied for maintenance work on federal highways in Moscow, Kaluga and Tver Regions, the North-West region of the RF, Karelia, Mordovia and Krasnodar Region.

“Thanks to TNK Alphabit’s elasticity, the road surface is ready for use by passenger vehicles almost immediately after it has been laid, and the material’s stability helps it to maintain its shape and cope with heavy loads, rapid acceleration and braking. These are vital factors for the surface of the busiest roads in Moscow, wh ere the traffic never stops for a single minute, even during the night,” said Dmitry Ustinov, TNK-BP’s Vice President, Business Marketing and New Business Development.
