Angela Merkel Highly Appreciates European Outlook of Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2012. At a press conference in Chisinau in the framework of the one-day visit of the German Chancellor to Moldova, Angela Merkel noted the progress Moldova had achieved n the Eastern partnership. She stressed that authorities of Moldova had worked a lot to bring Moldova closer to EU and scored a great success, especially in the negotiations on Association Agreement, DCFTA and visa regime liberalization.
The Chancellor of Germany appreciated that fact that authorities of Moldova had managed to find a way out of the political crisis and make the governance of the state more effective. She pointed out that political and economic relations between Moldova and Germany would become more intensive after the visit of the German delegation to Moldova. Premier Vladimir Filat noted the importance of the official visit of the German Chancellor to Moldova, in the light of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries.
According to him, at the meting with Angela Merkel participants discussed matters of integration of Moldova into Europe, progress of Moldova in this process and bilateral relations of our countries. The matter of the Transdniestrian settlement was given special attention. Vladimir Filat noted that German investment are of great importance for Moldova and German companies in the Moldovan market formed the value added and became the lead to follow for other investors. Vladimir Filat stressed that the most important thing for Moldova today is to have the European future and the energy to implement reforms and bring national legislation in compliance with European standards.
“There was an alternative before us between the Customs Union and the European one. And we have taken our choice. This is the European Union”, Vladimir Filat said. According to him, key objectives of Moldova include completion of the negotiations on EU-Moldova Association Agreement, creation of the deep and comprehensive trade area with EU and liberalization of the visa regime.
