OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2012. From April of next year, Deutsche Telekom will supply around 33,000 apartments owned by ANTEC Servicepool GmbH with TV and radio programs. The companies have signed a long-term partnership to this effect.

Thus, after the partnership with Deutsche Annington and the return to the German cable market, another contract is signed that signals success: "Whether it's coaxial cables, copper cables, fiber optics or mobile communications - Telekom as a real technology integrator offers housing companies solutions which will last well into the future," says Niek Jan van Damme, member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom responsible for business in Germany. "We have taken another important step forward to position ourselves as a reliable and innovative partner in the housing industry."

This is Telekom's first cooperation with a network level 4 operator. Telekom is providing a backward channel-capable network at network level 3 and will supply the appropriate TV and radio signals until the transfer point in the cellar. The cooperation partner, ANTEC, will then transmit the signals to the apartments of the tenants, using the existing coaxial network.

This cooperation will allow tenants to receive an extensive and attractive range of programs - radio, free-TV and pay-TV packages and Internet access via the partner, ANTEC. Telekom will install fiber optic cables up to the transfer points in the properties in order to make full use of the transmission bandwidth of the existing coaxial cables to all apartments. Interactive services will also be possible thanks to thebackward channel capability.

Daniel Meier-Hoffmann, CEO of ANTEC, declares: "We are bundling our strengths for the benefit of our customers to create an attractive offering: ANTEC stands for regional identity, service and years of experience in setting up and operating house distribution networks. With the strength of Deutsche Telekom, we will from now on be offering individual supply concepts using modern fiber optics networks."

With ANTEC, Telekom was able to gain a classic network level 4 operator as a partner, which for more than 20 years has specialized in TV provision for large numbers of apartments in the Hanover area and cooperates with a large number of housing companies.
