KAMAZ Broadens Efforts to Combat Counterfeiting
OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2012. KAMAZ’s specialists are developing a comprehensive anti-counterfeiting program. Its main purpose is to protect customers of KAMAZ vehicles from buying defective parts which don’t guarantee trouble-free operation of vehicles, reported the press-centre of KAMAZ.
Plenty of counterfeits on the market of spare parts cause damage not only to the company, but also to customers. It’s hard to predict when exactly the use of counterfeit spare parts may have harmful effects. A vehicle with counterfeit spare parts can break down at any time during operation. In order to prevent force majeure and to be confident of reliability of parts and vehicles, operators of KAMAZ vehicles should use only original spare parts from the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, customers are often unaware that they buy counterfeits. Therefore, KAMAZ plans to expand the range of spare parts sold in KAMAZ’s original boxes with several levels of protection. This box shows all necessary data about a product in it, which helps distinguish high-quality, original spare parts from “grey” products. Moreover, new suppliers of spare parts are obliged to comply with the company’s regulations on KAMAZ original packaging and protective marking.
As a part of its new comprehensive program, KAMAZ plans to regularly check its certified dealers for unauthorized products among spare parts they sell in order to protect customers from buying low-quality parts. In addition, the company will continue to test parts from alternative manufacturers to reveal deviations from KAMAZ’s current design documentation and the level of negative consequences which may occur from the use of such spare parts. It is planned to take measures to optimize prices for different parts produced by OJSC KAMAZ.
The company’s managers hope that all these measures will prevent customers from buying counterfeit spare parts and help them avoid unpleasant surprises during operation of KAMAZ vehicles.
