OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2012. The excavator EKG-18 is commissioned in Krasnobrodsky open-pit mine  of JSC UK "Kuzbassrazrezugol". This new development of the plant designers is an up-to-date, reliable and effective crawler-mounted mining shovel with 18 m3 bucket .

EKG-18 is designed in accordance with the basic principles of "Uralmashplant school" of excavator building. The digging equipment of ECG-18 is presented by a traditional rack-type crowd mechanism with a double-beam handle. As to the design of basic systems, assemblies and components, ECG-18 is intended  for high-performance operation under heaviest geological and climatic conditions.  ECG-18 is the first machine of Uralmashplant equipped with a modern alternating-current drive that provides an essential reduction in operating and power costs per unit in the course of the machine service. The machine is fitted with information system, microprocessor control system, as well as with fault detection system for assemblies and mechanisms and with process monitoring system. They allow monitoring of the parameters of the systems and units, identification of the main process characteristics, protection of the units and systems against wrong actions of operator, which may cause overload and failure.

The machine has successfully completed the semi-annual period of pilot operation. During this period about 3 million m3 of rock were loaded out, - said Director of Division "Gornoye oborudovanie" Yury Burov. - We get positive reports about the machine operation. Operators appreciated power of the digging equipment drives, convenience of the modern seat integrated with control panel and vibroinsulated as well as the possibility of using video cameras to monitor the operations of loading the rock into vehicles.

At present the Uralmashplant manufactures  ECG-18 No. 2 for the Managing Company "Yuzhny Kuzbass"..
