OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2012. The 80 kt/a butadiene rubber unit, one of China's key engineering construction projects, and a major part of Daqing PetroChemical's 1.2 Mt/a ethylene expansion and upgrading project, became operational and produced qualified rubber products. This means that Daqing PetroChemical has enhanced its annual butadiene rubber capacity from 80,000 tons to 160,000 tons, making it the largest butadiene rubber production base in China, reported the press-centre of CNPC. 

With a total investment of RMB 1.02 billion, the butadiene rubber unit consists of processing parts, auxiliary parts and supporting utilities. It adopts Daqing PetroChemical's independently developed technology for solution polymerization and produces BR-9000 butadiene rubber, with the equipment localization rate reaching 97%.

Butadiene rubber is widely used in industry, agriculture, healthcare, and livelihood articles. It can also be used to make various kinds of highly cold-resistant products.
