LUKOIL-Severo-Zapadnefteproduct Unreasonably Increased Gasoline Prices
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2012. The Arbitration Court of the Komi Republic upheld the decision and determination of the office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Komi Republic (Komi OFAS Russia) regarding “LUKOIL-Severo-Zapadnefteproduct” Ltd., reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
Earlier Komi OFAS Russia found that “LUKOIL-Severo-Zapadnefteproduct” Ltd. violated Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” (abusing market dominance). In December 2010, the company increased retail prices for gasoline (grades AI-80, AI-92 and AI-95) in Syktyvkar, Ukhta and Usinsk without any economic justification.
OFAS issued a determination to “LUKOIL-Severo-Zapadnefteproduct” Ltd. to prevent actions that can violate the antimonopoly law by unreasonably increasing prices. The company disagreed with the decision and determination issued by Komi OFAS Russia and filed a lawsuit to the Arbitration Court of the Komi Republic, which supported the position of the antimonopoly body.
“The issue of growing gasoline prices is very pressing because the fuel component affects the costs of all goods and services, including the socially important ones. The Court support of our determination will allow controlling the situation in the future”, emphasized Deputy Head of - Komi OFAS Russia, Tatiana Mikhailova.
