OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2012. Moldova's currency reserves have reached a new historical record of 2.137.4 billion dollars, up by 30 million dollars on 3-10 August, according to data the National Bank of Moldova made public.

The currency reserve assets increased by 170 million dollars in 2012. The consolidation of the currency reserves is important in case of an eventual economic crisis, or in case the sovereign debt crisis and recession from the European Union aggravate.

The reserve assets went up by 248 million dollars reaching 1.965.300 dollars in 2011 against 1.717.690 dollars in 2010.
