OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2012. Uralgidromed (JSC) is not involved in fish deaths in Severskiy pond as concluded by the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage (Rosprirodnadzor) in accordance with results of the environmental impact audit.

The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage (Rosprirodnadzor) has finished the inspection of ground water samples in the area of Gumeshevsky deposit which is developed by Uralgidromed (JSC). According to the inspection results there is no cause-effect relationship between Uralgidromed operation and fish deaths in Severskiy pond.

During the 14-days inspection, specialists of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage examined results of monitoring of the ground and surface waters and conducted their own investigation – made analysis of the ground waters samples ed from the observation holes. The results of investigation have proved the lack of high concentration of metals and salts (aluminum, copper, zinc, iron, sulphates and so on) in the water analysis.

There is no discharge in surface waters in hydrometallurgical method used by Uralgidromed at all. Independent organisations such are “Monitoring of Mineral Deposits” LLC (LLC  MMPI), Research and Production Company “Geos” and “The Leading Research Institute of Chemical Technology” JSC (JSC  VNIIHT) constantly monitor the ground waters since they carry the main technological load in the area of mine development. Contribution of the works into air pollution of the urban district is insignificant and comprises 0,23% (according to the Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat) data for 2011) from the overall volume of air emission of all enterprises operating in the territory of Polevskoy city.

It shall be reminded that specialists of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage (Rosprirodnadzor) in the Ural Federal District conducted the unscheduled on-site inspection by the order of the Interregional Environmental Prosecutor’s Office in Sverdlovsk region in connection with fish deaths in Severskiy pond.
