OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2012. Power Machines OJSC has produced and successfully tested a unique 1200 MW high-speed fully water-cooled turbogenerator designed for the second power unit of Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 (NVNPP-2) being under construction, reported the press-centre of Bank of Power Machines.

The 1200 MW high-speed steam turbines and turbogenerators for NPPs are actual products specifically developed by Power Machines for new-generation nuclear power units having increased reliability and safety. Such power units are being built in Russia within the framework of NPP-2006 project.

The T3V-1200-2 turbogenerators, which are designed and produced by Power Machines for NNPP-2 and Leningradskaya NPP-2 (LNPP-2), represent a development of a series of fully water-cooled turbine generators being highly efficient, explosion-proof and fire-resistant turbogenerators for nuclear power plants and having no parallel in the world nuclear power plant engineering. Fundamentally new design solutions for these turbine generators have been perfected by Power Machines’ specialists at 800 MW machines being operated for a long time at the Ryazanskaya and Permskaya TPPs and also at an 890 MW turbogenerator manufactured in 2010 for the 4th Beloyarskaya NPP unit which is currently under construction.

Power Machines and Atomenergoprom JSC signed contracts to supply a complete set of main equipment for fitting out of the turbine hall at Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 and LNPP-2 in May 2008. The total contract value amounts to over 40 billion rubles. Two power units with VVER-type reactors (each having an electric capacity of 1200 MW) will be built at each of the nuclear plants.

Under the terms of these contracts Power Machines are to provide engineering, manufacturing and supply of four complete sets of turbine plants, including steam turbines, condensers and main auxiliary equipment of turbine plant systems (heat exchanging and pumping equipment, pipelines and necessary accessories), as well as four complete sets of turbogenerators including auxiliary systems equipment, excitation systems and exciters for the power units of NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2. Moreover, Power Machines will carry out supervision during installation and commissioning of all the equipment supplied at the NPP sites.

In 2010 and 2011 Power Machines completed to manufacture a high-speed turbine and a high-speed generator for the leading site of NPP-2006 project (Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 being under construction). At present the installation of the steam turbine equipment is being carried out in full swing in the turbine hall of unit No. 1. Currently Power Machines production facilities are manufacturing turbine equipment for the second power unit of NVNPP-2.

NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2 are the first nuclear power stations to be built from scratch in Russia within the last 15 years.
