OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2012. The depleted sites of the Kotelevskyi gas condensate field in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions will be investigated concerning the prospects for increasing hydrocarbon production using modern technologies.

Signing the grant agreement between the SC "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" and the U.S. Agency for Trade and Development (USTDA) on behalf of the U.S. Government on funding of USD 724 thousand for this project was held at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.

During the signing ceremony, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko praised the prospects of bringing modern technologies to increase hydrocarbon production in Ukraine.

"Today is a very important event for the Ukraine's oil and gas industry, because signing the agreement opens up Ukraine's access to modern American technologies of increasing and recovery of hydrocarbons extraction. Beginning practical work on a pilot project on rehabilitation of Ukrainian gas condensate field is a small but important step towards strengthening Ukraine's energy security. After all increase in production will enable for "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" to target additional funds for implementation of important projects in the social area, building hospitals, schools, social infrastructure sites etc." said the Minister.

According to Yuriy Boyko, signing of the agreement has become an important result of coherent cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in energy sector. This is the first since gaining independence grant from the U.S. Government aimed directly at oil and gas sector of Ukraine.
