OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2012. According to amendments to Labour Code and Offence Code, having come in to effect on August 3, 2012, illegal labour was forbidden. Since now, this is for the first time when fines are imposed for each illegal worker separately.

Undeclared employment entails fines at an amount of 100-150 conventional units for an employer, 250-350 c.u for an executive officer and 350-500 c/u; for a legal entity. Violation of Health and Work Safety Code is sanctioned with fines at an amount of 100-140 conventional units for an employer, 200-350 c.u for an executive officer and 350-450 c.u. for a legal entity. The fines used to be 40-50 c.u., 50-75 c.u. and 80-120 c.u. respectively.

Hiring minors for jobs dangerous for their health or forbidden by law is fined 100- 150 c.u. for individuals, 250-400 c.u. for executive officers and 400-500 c.u. for legal entities. The violation is also may be sanctioned by the withdrawal of business licenses for 6 to 12 months. As head of the Labour Inspection Dumitru Stavila says, employers used to pay only 1 thou leis for all illegal workers together and continued violating law.
