OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, has always been at the forefront in conducting initiatives that help in preservation of the environment. In another such initiative, Tata Power recently inaugurated Rooftop Rain Water Harvesting System at their Power House # 6 plant at Jamshedpur.

Roof top rain water harvesting system is a process where rain water is collected over building roofs and sheds to be later utilized. The water from the rooftop is then sent for purification where it is passed through a filtering process and later percolated in tanks to be used. In Power House # 6, the Cooling Water Pump House and attached buildings have been set up, where Roof top rain water harvesting systems are implemented. The total catchment area is 795 Sq. meter.

The Roof top rain water harvesting system was inaugurated by Mr. D.S.KUDALKAR, General Manager (Jamshedpur), Tata Power, on 8th August 2012 at Power House #6, inside Tata Steel.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. D. S. Kudalkar, General Manager (Jamshedpur), Tata Power said – “Rain water harvesting is emerging as a top priority for all corporate houses as well as for common citizens. Our ground water reserve is shrinking every day and fresh water becomes more precious due to increasing demand. Tata Power, being a front runner, has always emphasized the need of water conservation and has been implementing such initiatives wherever possible”.
