OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2012. Popular dump trucks KAMAZ-65115 and KAMAZ-6520 improved their performance due to high-tech solid metal cord tires made by Nizhnekamskshina, reported the press-centre of KAMAZ.

Recently restyled KAMAZ vehicles not only changed their exterior, but also got new components made by the world`s leading manufacturers (e.g., new Cummins diesel engines, ZF gearboxes produced by ZF KAMA JV). Modernization of the line also included replacement of tires because of higher carrying capacity and stricter ecological requirements. So, combined technology tires are no longer compliant with today’s standards of operation. In addition, the older type of rubber is not meant for retreading. There is a long-felt need to use new generation tires.

As a result, the use of solid metal cord tires helped to greatly improve characteristics of KAMAZ-65115 and KAMAZ-6520 dump trucks which are in popular demand on the market. The construction of these tires increases carrying capacity to 8% and reduces fuel consumption to 15%. Solid metal cord tires weigh less – they are almost 11 kg lighter than tires used before, which also reduces fuel consumption. Compared with ordinary tires, these models feature high durability and speed characteristics (140 km/h). It is also important that solid metal cord tires can be retreaded. So, it prolongs their service life to 700,000 kilometers.

Thanks to these tires, the vehicle can be operated for a long time and almost non-stop. They are especially good for trucks that are sometimes operated twenty four hours a day.
