OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2012. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company was declared the winner in the open tender of Kosmicheskaya Svyaz Federal State Unitary Enterprise for insurance of Express-AM5 space vehicle. The insurance protection is effective for the period the satellite is at the manufacturer’s premises, and also for the period of transportation and pre-commissioning operations. The aggregate limit of responsibility under the agreement amounts to 7.08 bn rubles.

Express-AM5 space vehicle is scheduled for launch in 2013. Whereupon, the launch itself and satellite operation in orbit have already been insured by Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. The company won the relevant tender in 2011. Then the Express-AM5 satellite was insured against full or partial destruction for the total sum of 7.08 bn rubles as well.

Let us remind you that at the end of August, 2011 the Express-AM4 satellite insured by Ingosstrakh Insurance Company was lost as a result of putting into an erratic orbit. As declared earlier, the insurance company fully fulfilled all its obligations under this insurance case. The insurance sum for Express-AM4 satellite amounted to 7.5 bn rub. The risks regarding this launch were reinsured in the leading Russian and foreign companies.

Ingosstrakh Insurance Company occupies leading positions in the sector of space insurance. By the order of Kosmicheskaya Svyaz FSUE, Express-AM5 satellite is created by Information Satellite Systems OJSC named after Academician M. F. Reshetnev jointly with Scientific and Research Radio Institute FSUE in accordance with the contract signed in August, 2009. The space vehicle is built considering the predictions of Russian satellite communication connection and digital TV and radio broadcasting market within the framework of the Russian Federal Space Program (FSP) for the period until 2015. It is planned to locate the satellite in the orbital position at 140 degrees of the eastern longitude, which will allow to provide the population of the Far East and Siberian Regions with accessible multiprogram digital TV and radio broadcasting. The Express-AM5 space vehicle is also intended to solve the problems of mobile presidential and governmental communication, provide a multi-service package (digital TV and radio broadcasting, telephony, video conference communication, data transfer, Internet access) and create communication networks based on VSAT technology in the territory of Russia and in other world regions.
