OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2012. This was reported by the Minister of Education Maia Sandu at cabinet meeting. She noted that 34.8 million lei of this amount was intended for capital investment, and 44.3 million lei - for overhaul.

The degree of schools readiness in the country for the new school year varies from 50% to 70%, and class rooms are ready to receive students in September 1 at the level of 90-95%. Preparation of educational institutions for the new school year is scheduled for completion by 17 August.

The head of the Ministry of Education noted that currently schools lack 733 teachers. To solve this problem it is planned to attract young professionals in schools - university and college graduates, who will be sent by distribution. It is envisaged that the new school year, as in previous years, free food will be provided to all students in primary grades, students of classes V-XII from socially vulnerable families, as well as students of classes V-XII of the pre-university educational institutions of Transnistria and Bender who are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of Moldova.
