OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2012. West Siberian Railways loaded 156,052 million tons of freight from January to July 2012, an increase of 4,372 million tons or 2.9% over the same period last year, reported the press-centre of RZD.

In particular, various types of freight exceeded last year’s figures, including coal, which was up 2.3% to 112,544 million tons, oil, up 10.9% to 10,165 million tons, and coke, up by 8.1% to 4,622 million tons. In addition, the volume of construction materials loaded rose by 15.6% to 6,799 million tons.

Freight shipments of grain and milled products from January to July 2012 also exceeded last year’s level, rising by 32.6%, to 2,138 million tons.

Freight turnover in the first 7 months of 2012 increased by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2011 and amounted to 180.173 billion ton-kilometres, according to the office of corporate communications at West Siberian Railways.
