OREANDA-NEWS. August 09, 2012. Russian Railways shipped 109.1 million tons on own network in July 2012, an increase of over 3% compared to July 2011, reported the press-centre of RZD.

Freight turnover in July 2012 increased by 3.9% compared to July 2011 to 185.1 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs in July 2012 rose by 1.8% to 230.8 billion ton-kilometres.

According to the latest figures shipping volumes in January-July 2012 totalled 737.8 million tons, up 3.4% over the same period in 2011.

Russia’s railways shipped the following goods in January-July 2012. Figures in brackets show the change compared to January-July 2011:

coal - 175 million tons (+3.3%);

coke - 7.5 million tons (-2.5%);

oil and oil products - 150.3 million tons (+2.5%);

iron and manganese ores - 63.4 million tons (-0.6%);

ferrous metals - 43.6 million tons (+0.1%);

ferrous metal scrap - 10.1 million tons (-11.6%);

chemical and mineral fertilisers - 26.9 million tons (-1.1%);

cement - 20.6 million tons (+4.9%);

timber - 22.2 million tons (-9.8%);

grain and milled products - 11,7 million tons (+26.9%);

construction materials - 104.9 million ton (+18.9%);

non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock - 13.3 million tons (-6.8%);

chemicals and soda - 16.5 million tons (-3.9%);

industrial raw materials and molded materials - 20.2 million tons (+13.2%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2012 amounted to 1,288.7 billion tariff ton-kilometres, up 5.2% on the same period last year, while freight turnover including empty wagon runs was 1,619.4 billion ton-kilometres, an increase of 4%.
